Early Risers vs. Slow Starters: Finding God’s Grace in Every Morning Routine

Good morning! Have you ever felt like your day begins in slow motion, like your body is moving but your soul needs a few extra minutes to catch up? Or maybe you’re someone who wakes up early feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to embrace the day ahead. Whether you’re an early riser or someone who enjoys a slower morning routine, one thing is certain—every day is a fresh start, a new beginning filled with promise.

Psalm 57:8 beautifully captures the joy of waking up with purpose: “Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” This verse reflects the spirit of someone who embraces the morning hours with passion, rising before the world stirs, eager to step into God’s plan for the day. I personally find joy in rising early, often before the sun peeks through the sky. It’s a time when I feel most connected to God’s presence and His gentle whisper in the early morning hours.

But not everyone greets the morning with the same rhythm. Some people thrive with a slow start to the day—savoring their coffee, catching up on the news, or easing into breakfast before diving into the demands of daily life. And that’s perfectly okay. Both fast and slow morning routines have value and beauty.

The most important reminder? God is always with you—whether you rise with the sun or press snooze a few extra times. He never sleeps, never grows weary, and He’s always ready to listen, guide, and comfort. His presence isn’t limited by the hour on the clock or the pace of your morning.

So before you begin your day—whether it’s with a brisk walk or a cozy cup of coffee—take a moment to invite God into it. He is with you in every sunrise, every breath, and every quiet moment. And no matter your pace, you are never alone.
