Hello fellow authors!
Welcome to another month of character development and writing guides. September was a huge month for us. Here’s what we’ve done together.
In September I invited readers to partner with me in creating new material for this website through the support my work page. This honors the writing guides and worksheets that that help authors to grow in their journey. I also launched the Testimonials page so that you can show other authors what articles and resources have helped you, by submitting reviews on the articles and books on this site.
We took a deep dive into character development exploring how to create characters with quiet strength, and how to right side characters who worn your hero of impending danger.
Below, are some of the articles that cover these topics.
➡️ The Quiet Warnings: How Side Characters Reflect the Hero’s Path
➡️ Writing Emotional Closeness Between Characters
➡️ Building Imperfectly Perfect Characters: Understanding Flaws and Growth
Writing from the hard podcast
We also launched a brand new resource for writers called the heart of writing podcast. This is a weekly podcast, dedicated to helping writers develop their voice and vision and overcome challenges along the writing journey. Each podcast episode is available to listen to on Spotify, audible, YouTube and the heart of writing podcast page on this website.
Looking ahead
As we begin a new month together, we will continue to explore what it means to develop characters based on popular genres of writing. This will include crime fiction. We will also look at how to create characters whose choices changed them in ways that they can never recover from.
We will look at creating the morality of your characters and how to create memorable characters who feel the effects of the choices they make still achieve their goals.
This is an exciting month for We Are Wise Thinkers . Let’s continue to grow in our craft, hone our voice and expand our vision.
Looking ahead with Hope,
J.E. Nickerson
