One endless night of darkness in Trentonville.
Hazel is searching for her sister, Gretchen. But before she can find her, she has to confront the distance that has grown between them.
An excerpt from BLACKOUT:
Hazel slammed her hand against the steering wheel and cursed. Her voice filled the cabin, absorbed by the steel structure.
She fumbled on the passenger seat, her hands trembling until they brushed the cool, smooth surface of her phone. She snatched it up. The screen’s backlight flared, painfully bright, a singular, defiant spark in the suffocating gloom of the interior.
She opened her contacts. Her thumb hovered over Gretchen. She had not talked to Gretchen since before she found the letter. At least a month. Even then the conversation had been brittle. Forced.
She tapped the icon. She pressed the phone to her ear, listening to the silence of the line.
What happens when the lights go out and the people you need most are suddenly beyond your reach?
