Jake is nine years old.
His brother Troy died when he was only three.
Jake never knew him.
There are no memories of Troy for Jake to draw from. No conversations between them. No time they spent together. Troy was gone before Jake could ever have known what it meant to have a brother.
But Jake begins talking about him.
At first, Scott and Candace don’t know what to make of it. Jake is a young child, and children can say things that don’t make sense. They try to listen. They try to understand. They try to find an explanation for what their son is saying.
Then Jake begins knowing things about Troy that no one ever told him.
Things that should have remained with the people who remember Troy.
And Jake insists that Troy is angry.
The house begins to feel different.
Small things become difficult to dismiss. Sounds come from places where there should be no one. Jake’s behavior changes. The more the adults around him try to understand what is happening, the harder it becomes to separate what Jake knows from what he is somehow experiencing.
There is no easy explanation waiting for them.
Only a little boy who never met his brother, a dead child who should have nothing left to say, and a growing presence that begins to make itself impossible to ignore.
Who is Troy?
And why is Jake the only one who can hear him?
What He Saw is a dark supernatural thriller built around a family, a child who knows things he shouldn’t, and the quiet pressure of something that cannot be explained away.
