Casey wakes tied to a support post in the basement of her own home.
She has no memory of how she got there.
A woman emerges from the stone wall. A man she doesn’t recognize tells her the ceremony will begin. He tells her that Lilitha is pleased with her new body.
Then Casey wakes in her own bed.
It was a nightmare.
At least, that’s what she tells herself.
She tries to go on with her life, but the small stone figurine she bought from an antique shop begins to take on a disturbing significance. She throws it away and watches the garbage truck carry it from her home.
The next time she looks at the entryway table, it’s back.
Then Casey begins seeing things she can’t explain. Blood on the walls. A crow attacks her window, leaving deep claw marks across the glass. Scratching sounds come from inside the walls. And the dreams become increasingly connected to the strange figurine sitting inside her home.
She knows what exhaustion can do to a person. She knows what fear can do to the imagination. And she knows she doesn’t believe in the supernatural.
But that doesn’t explain what she’s seeing.
Is Casey’s mind creating something that isn’t there?
Or did the little stone figurine bring a presence into her home?
As the line between nightmare and waking life begins to disappear, Casey has to find a way to keep functioning while confronting something she can’t explain, can’t prove, and can’t simply throw away.
